Blind Candidate: Chapter Twenty Four

Her sister was alive, and she was standing in front of Ciara.
A blast of intense sentiment of shock, relief, and happiness slammed Ciara’s chest. Her hands started to shook. She could hear the throbbing sound at the back of her head.
“L-L-Leverie…” Ciara whimpered. I’m not going to cry. I’m not going to cry. She repeated in her mind.
“All this time, I never stopped believing that I would finally found you,” Ciara bit her lip, suppressing her tears, “And now…you’re here…alive…”
The image of Leverie soothing her thumb on Ciara’s cheek came into her mind.
I need to find my sister. Your sister is still alive.
That night when Metric was burned down, that day when Ciara thought she had lost everyone, it felt like ripple of shock splintering her mind. Her wish finally came true. This time, she was real.
Ciara broke down into sobs and laughed. Why was she laughing? What was she doing? She pounded the pavement hard as she deliriously chortled at herself. Her stomach ached so hard that she practically knew it wasn’t a dream.
“Ciara…” Leverie muttered lowly, “Why are you he—“
Overwhelmed by relief, shock, and happiness, Ciara thrust forward and locked her sister in a tight embrace. Leverie was definitely real. Ciara could feel Leverie’s curly hair tickling her arms, the warmth spreading around her fingers and the icy metal of her armor. She didn’t care if her sister was wearing an armor, or not. In fact, all she wanted to do was punch herself for being a lousy sister, and to scream “hurray!” “hurray!” at the sky.
“Leverie!” Ciara cried, squeezing her arms tightly around her sister as if she didn’t want this moment to end. “I-I miss you! I don’t know what to say. I’m just so happy that you’re here.”
“Ciara.” Leverie mumbled. “Please don’t hug me.”
“Sorry.” Ciara released her sister, insanely grinning. Her eyes were puffy and full of radiant tears. “I’m sorry…I was just…so…hap—“
Ciara collapsed on the ground, her head hitting the pavement. Dirt grazed the side of her face, bruising her cheek. Bewildered, Ciara scrambled up to her feet and heard the sound of gun clacking.
“Stay away from me!” Leverie shouted. Ciara’s legs felt like lead.
“What?” Ciara was baffled by Leverie’s sudden reaction.
Click.
Ciara’s eyes widened. Her pulse throbbed at the back of her head.
That sound—that sound…
Ciara gaze up, and a black hole blocking her vision. Her eyes trembled. A pang of guilt and shock crushed inside her. It’s a gun…Ciara noticed. S-she’s pointing it at my forehead…She’s pointing a gun at me!
“Leverie,” Ciara stuttered. The happiness quickly died down, transforming into something—fear. She can’t be pointing a gun at me…Ciara thought. This must be just a dream…a mistake.
“Why are you still alive!?” Leverie screamed at her, ‘You were supposed to be dead! You were supposed to be killed in the explosion!”
Ciara’s heart sank, “W-what are you talking about?”
“I should have killed you a long time ago!” Leverie shrieked, “You should have died in Metric!”
The gun clicked in place.
Leverie can’t be serious…Ciara thought. She can’t—she would never dare to try and hurt me.
A cycle of images flashed across her mind. Leverie playing the piano—Leverie taking her to school—Leverie skimming her thumb on Ciara’s cheek—Leverie running to save her.
Crack. The images split into thousand shards, crumbling and disappearing into the black pit hole that Ciara used to dream.
“You wouldn’t…” Ciara snapped, “I’m your sister!”
“My sister is long dead!” Leverie shrieked, “I don't have a sister who is blind! A useless thing!”
Those words immediately battered her feelings. Ciara wanted to cry, to shout, to scream, but her emotions were jumbled as if she was startled by her own sister.
“Leverie…” Ciara cried, her heart squeezing painfully in her chest. “Why…why did you became a Rein guard? Why did you join the Epicenter!? They were the ones who killed mom, dad, the villagers and our home!”
Don’t give up, Ciara. Leverie’s words echoed her thoughts. I believe in you. You’re going to catch that fish and make us proud.
I hear some Metric survivors joined the Rein so they can be spared. Eliza said.
Leverie saw her villagers get killed in front of her eyes. Madam Fier said. She doesn’t know what to do anymore.
“Metric is nothing, but trash!” Leverie barked, “Do you know why I joined the Epicenter? It’s because Metric doesn’t have a future for us!” Leverie continued. “Nannies, servants, fishermen, scavengers. Do you want a future like that, Ciara!? We are nothing, but slaves to the Epicenter! Servilles. People think of us as trash. They think we’re not worthy to stand up on our own. Do you wanted to be pitied by people, Ciara!? Do you wanted to become like mom and dad!?”
“Don’t you dare insult mom and dad like that!” Ciara screamed, “How could you! You’ve betrayed your own village for the enemy!”
“Shut up, Ciara. You know nothing about me!” Leverie shouted, “All you did was fish at Thinnest River. You are nothing, but a spoiled brat being praised by everyone at the village.” Leverie hissed. “And letting you live was another mistake of mine.”
Leverie Plop is the most popular girl in Metric. Everyone knows her because she’s the best pianist in town.
That’s my girl. She’s going to the Epicenter to attend her scholarship. Voices spoke in her mind. I’m sorry I’m leaving you, Ciara.
“I should be the one envying you.” Leverie yelled. “All those years—all those painful eight years of staying with you, hearing everyone praising you like that. It makes me sick!”
This isn’t my sister anymore…Ciara thought. Something is wrong with her…This isn’t the real Leverie…
“I hated you!” Leverie spat, “I hated you for being my sister!
At the back of Ciara’s head, she could feel the gravity snapping her mind in half. The images began to roll across her mind. I love you, Ciara—Ciara run!—You’re Ciara, not Seara—don’t give up—I know you’re going to catch that fish—Life is hard, but you just need to stick with it—Sorry, Ciara. But I’ll teach you the piano next time...
I hated you! Do you want to become slaves? You’re nothing, but a spoiled brat! Seeing your face makes me sick.
“Goodbye, Ciara.” Leverie muttered.
Bam!
Ciara had been thankful for the training she had in Vixens. She had been lucky to dodge the bullet that nearly end her life. She heard the bullet hitting the ground close to her right side, and began to lunge toward her sister.
Taking Leverie by surprise, Ciara slammed herself against her older sister, and ripped the gun from her shoulder. Both of them hit the ground, the gun skidding out of reach. Ciara lifted her fist and punched Leverie in the face.
Crack.
Everything went quiet. Ciara breathed heavily, seizing Leverie’s collar. Leverie didn’t struggle.
“Do you really mean it? Is that how you really feel about me—about our parents, and our villagers?” Ciara shouted angrily, “Is that what’s really in your heart? What about those dreams you have? What about your piano skills and scholarship!” Leverie flinched. Ciara continued, “Are you just going to waste that away because you wanted power!? Is that why you’re here in the Epicenter, so you can help Virgo take over the world?”
“Yes,” Leverie hissed. Ciara paused, “Wake up, Ciara! Metric is gone!”
Distracted by the heavy pit of emotions Ciara was having, she didn’t notice that Leverie had slapped her face. Smack. The impact had tossed Ciara on the ground. Ciara gritted her teeth and staggered up—but something was holding her back. What is this!? Ciara tried to lift her feet, but it felt like the ground was sucking her. This is just like what happened outside the Circular. Ciara noticed. Someone is controlling the ground. Ciara looked up. And it’s Leverie.
“So you finally noticed,” Leverie muttered darkly, “I told you Ciara, I’m not going back to Metric. You can’t make me! You're just a weak, blind girl."
Weak blind girl…Her sister just called her weak. The real Leverie wouldn’t call her like that. Never in a million years.
“I came to Epicenter on my free will,” Leverie said, and Ciara caught a glimpse of her Leverie striding toward her direction, one arm tucked on the gun. Move, Ciara. Her conscience said.
Then Leverie appeared behind her. “And I won’t let you stop me.”
Something hard and painful interconnected with her cheek, smashing half of her skull in the process. Ciara screamed, and later, she could feel herself skidding on the ground. She’s too fast, and strong. Ciara guessed. Now is my chance.
With one swipe, Ciara dug out her fishing rod and flung the string up. She could hear the string whipping in the air, making its way toward the enemy. Leverie cried. There was heavy thump on Ciara’s grip.
I caught her. Ciara thought.
Her vision was still fuzzy. The white surroundings were all too blurry, and the figure—Leverie, looked like a white chess piece.
“A fishing rod!? That’s so like you, Ciara.” Leverie chuckled as if the fishing rod was merely a toy to her. “Up until now, you’re still using that piece of trash. Give it up, Ciara. I'm not the sister you used to know these past few years in Metric. There's no way I'm returning back to normal."
Snip.
The weight disappeared from Ciara’s fishing rod. Ciara’s heart throbbed in her chest. Where is Leverie? Ciara whisked her head around, but saw nothing—when she sensed a dark shadow behind her. Leverie whispered, “This is goodbye.”
Bam!
Ciara crashed on the ground, writhing in pain. My stomachI’ve been shot…Ciara thought. Blood soaked her fingers. Her hands quivered.
“Any last words, dear old sister?” Leverie said.
“L...e…verie,” Ciara croaked, tears spilling down her eyes, “Even…if...I’m dying…Even…if I’m gone…I will still bring you back” Ciara smiled, “I won’t give up. You taught me those words…you were the one who changed me…and even if the old Leverie is gone, I will still find her. Hate me all you want…Kick me…kill me…But I promise you this…” Ciara closed her eyes, and muttered her last words before everything turned black.
“I will save you.”
z
“You know, you’re crazy.”
Leverie and Ciara were down at the Short Lake, watching the sunrise above the mountains. Twelve-year old Leverie hang one arm on her sister’s shoulder, pressing her close to her.
“I told you. Even if I grow old, turn eighty, or ninety years old, I will still try to catch that fish.” Eight-year old Ciara said.
“And what if you don’t?” Leverie asked.
“Then I’ll never stop in a million years.” Ciara pouted.
Leverie laughed. “Hey, you don’t need to be serious catching that fish.” Leverie continued, “Everything changes as time passes on." Leverie said in a dull voice, “For example, what if I changed? What if I became a bad person…like those criminals in the Part? What will you do?”
“You're not going to change,” Ciara beamed, “Leverie is strong, smart and nice. You taught me a lot of good things. You won’t fall into the evil, right?”
“I guess so…” Leverie said gloomily, and Ciara stopped smiling, “You can’t say…Ciara. The world is evil, and sometimes good people turn into bad people.” Leverie continued, “Remember what you said about growing up to become like me? Well, don’t.” Leverie looked at her with serious eyes, “Don’t try to take the path I'm walking. We have our own destinies to take care of."
Ciara nodded, “Still I won’t hate you when you became a bad person.”
Leverie flinched, “Why?”
“Because you’re my sister.” Ciara beamed.
z
My sister. My foe. My enemy. Leverie Plop. I made a promise to you.
I will bring you back.
Ciara slowly fluttered her eyes open. Darkness. Again. This was the first feeling she had when she woke up in Sore Tower. Blind. Period.
Am I dead?
She heard scraping noises beside her. Ciara blinked, but all she could see was pitch black. Where am I?
“Ciara?”
Ciara's mind snapped awake. She knew that voice. Liam.
Geez, you’re alive…” Liam sighed, and Ciara chuckled lowly. A sharp pain began to throb on her abdomen part. Ciara slowly traced her fingers down her stomach, until she felt thick, dry bandages wrapped around her waist. Someone treated me…Ciara thought.
“Where am I?” Ciara said.
“We’re inside a prison,” Chase answered, and Ciara noticed Chase was standing on her right side. The cell doesn’t have windows…so everything is too dark…Ciara analyzed.
“Not just any prison. But an underground prison lair,” Liam said, “If I were to guess, we’re somewhere hidden underneath the White House.”
The White House was the government Court for the Epicenter Officials, which meant they were inside Virgo’s territory. Ciara frantically jerked upright, and the pain doubled around her stomach. Ciara groaned.
“Don’t, Ciara.” That was Macie’s voice. She’s on the left side. Ciara felt small hands touching her stomach, as if Macie was examining the injury. "The wound is still fresh and deep. You shouldn’t be able to move for a while, and since 48 hours have passed, the injury is still recovering from time to time. Those Majestics did a good job healing you.”
“I see…” Ciara muttered.
“First of all, why didn't you mentioned you have a sister before!?" Macie’s hands were gone from her stomach.
"Ciara doesn’t know,” Chase muttered, "It was just...shocking."
"But how could anyone do this to you—especially your own sibling!” Macie complained.
“Leverie…” Ciara said, recalling what she said a while ago. I will save you.
The Crude Brothers sighed, and Ciara had almost forgotten about their fight earlier at the hotel. “We’re sorry, Ciara.”
“You see, when you left us tied up at the Majestic Hotel,” Chase began, “Liam and I had already sort out our problems, so we figured that if we give you some flowers, you won’t get mad at us anymore.” Ciara raised an eyebrow. Chase chuckled, as if he’d read her expression, “It’s stupid, right?”
Ciara heard Macie nodding.
“Flowers grow near the Arch Bridge, just south from the hotel, so we weren’t far when we left behind,” Liam continued the story, “...until that girl bumped into me.” Liam made a disapproving noise. “I could still remember her eyes. Those eyes…it’s the creepiest thing I have ever seen in my life,” Liam continued, “Then she started accusing us to go with her. In her opinion, she thought I was a criminal, because I’m walking around naked. And the next thing we’re inside a room surrounded by glass walls.”
The Circular.
“Creepy Eyes?” Ciara asked. She didn’t recall Leverie having weird eyes. In fact, Leverie had the most beautiful doe-shaped eyes back when they were still in Metric. And the thought saddened her.
You can’t escape me with these eyes. Leverie’s voice echoed in her thoughts.
“Purplish, with circular rings right in the middle," Liam paused, "She awfully reminded me of someone I used to know…but I can’t remember…”
“We didn’t know what exactly happened,” Chase said, “All we could remember was being swallowed by the…ground…and being transported into that room.”
“Yeah, I remember being lifted by the ground as well,” Macie chimed in, “It’s like she’s controlling it.”
“Wait!” Liam exclaimed very loudly, “A girl with circular-ringed eyes, and a power to control the ground. I think I saw her in Part before.”
Ciara’s heart throbbed. So Leverie was also in Part…
“I think so too,” Chase said, “But how come we don't know her?”
“Because...she had already escaped the Part three years ago.” Liam said.
Three years ago…That’s the same time I was convicted. Ciara thought. Leverie Plop is a Rank 4, and she joined the Vixens three years ago. Ciara observed.
So that’s why Leverie had super-speed, super-strength and a power to control the ground. Ciara thought, because she was also experimented in Cager Territory.
Ciara shuddered at the thought. She would never imagine that her sister was also a freak—like Liam and Gillian. Three years after Metric was destroyed, Leverie must have survived the explosion.
“So what do we do now?” Macie asked, “We can’t stay here forever. Who knows how many days we’ve missed our time lapse.”
Macie was right. If their team didn't make it to Clear Waters, they will get killed.
“The only answer is to escape,” Liam said, “But the question is, how?”
Slowly, Ciara began to hear something that sounded like water dripping. Ciara looked up, and observed the flow of the sounds. It was definitely water, but where was it? While Liam was explaining about his plans, Ciara began to slowly move toward the wall, reaching out her hand until her fingers touched the cold metal. A metal prison.
Metal generates echoes when a sound is made from another room, so it’s easy to know what’s outside this prison. Ciara pressed her ears against the metal wall, and clearly heard water flowing. It sounds like the water is flowing into a tunnel…A pipe. Ciara listened further, the pipe is not small…but huge, since the gushing of water is gentle. Large pipes have weak water flows, while small pipes have an abhorrent flow of water.
“There’s a tunnel outside,” Ciara said. Liam stopped talking, “It looks like there’s a source of water coming from it.
“That’s it!” Liam exclaimed again. “That’s the exit! You’re a genius, Ciara!”
Ciara flushed red. Then she heard shuffling sounds coming toward her left side. Liam is skimming his hands on the walls.
“Alright, here’s the plan,” Liam said excitedly, ‘Remember what I said about Virgo keeping prisoners underground? Well, that’s us. Our cell is located underground, which is near to the water source of the Epicenter. The tunnels,” Liam continued, “and tunnels lead to..."
“...The city. The White House.” Chase answered.
“So how do we get out?” Macie asked, “If there's a prison, there must be Rein Guards here, right?”
“That’s correct,” Liam said.
“But we don’t have any weapons!” Macie protested, “And the door is locked.”
“Then we need to wait for the Rein Guards to come in here,” Liam said, “Ciara, do you hear someone coming from the tunnel?”
Ciara pressed her ears on the wall, and as if on cue, she heard boots splashing on the water, “Yes. I hear someone…only one Rein Guard coming.” Ciara lifted her head from the wall, “I see…so the Rein guard comes here when it's dinner time, right?” She could remember the daily routine back at Sore Tower.
“Bingo,” Liam said.
Click. Click.
Everyone paused, and diverted their attention to the door. It sounded like the Rein guard was already unlocking the door. Ciara's heart throbbed in her chest. This is our best shot. If we don't escape the—
Ciara yelped when suddenly, she could feel herself being lifted up in someone's arms.
Shh…” Liam whispered, “Your stomach is injured, so you can’t run yet.” Liam chuckled lowly. “Don’t let go of me, and we’ll escape this place together, okay?’
Ciara nodded.
Click. Click. Click.
3 seconds…Ciara thought. And that Rein guard will finally open the door.
2…
1…
“GO!”
Everyone roared and dashed forward, until Ciara heard a crack, and a thud across the ground. They finally beat the Rein guard! Ciara thought.
Bright light began to fill Ciara’s eyes. She could see blurry outlines of the intersections and tunnels around her. Chase and Macie panted beside them. Her heart stumbled into her chest.
“Which way do we go?” Chase said.
“Left,” Ciara blurted. And then she heard more noises tapping toward their direction. The Rein guards.
“That doesn’t look too good,” Macie said, panic in her tone.
“This way!” Liam shouted.
But it was too late. Every intersection was now filled with Rein guards, and Ciara could hear their guns clicking in place. There must be hundreds of them…Ciara observed. But where should we go? The only path I can hear is the tunnel to the left side.
“Tsk,” Liam spat. Ciara wrapped her hands around her stomach. If she wasn’t injured like this, she could still fight with everyone. But why did Leverie spared me? Ciara thought. Why didn’t she killed me? Their weapons had been confiscated so there was no way Macie could have healed her alone. The only suspect was Leverie. She must have tended her wounds.
Leverie is still Leverie, Ciara thought, I know she's in there, somewhere.
Several guns clicked in place. Ciara looked up and saw three intersections blocked by four or more Rein guards, pointing dark objects at them. Riffles. Ciara thought. We're surrounded.
“What do we do, Liam?” Ciara whispered. She wanted to leap out of Liam’s arms and fight, but because of her stomach injury, she didn't have a choice, “We don’t have enough weapons to fight all of them.”
“Well then,” Liam sniggered, as if everything was a game to him, “I guess I need to take this the hard way.”
Before Ciara could open her mouth, she felt herself being lowered, her feet now touching the ground. Liam said, “Chase, stay with Ciara,” Liam continued, “Leave everything to me, and I’ll be the one to get us out of this place, alive.”
“Liam—” Chase started to protest, but Ciara could already hear Liam running, and then—
Smash!
Massive rocks exploded in front of them, creating a dust around the place. Ciara and the others coughed. What is going on? Ciara thought. I can’t see anything…everything is too foggy. Rocks tumbled across the floor. Dust started to muffle Ciara’s vision. Then she heard smack, thud, crash, ugh’s, and aah’s in front of her.
“What’s happening?” Macie coughed.
The noises continued to grow louder, and this time, Ciara could hear gunshots hitting the walls.
“Duck!” Chase shouted.
They did, as hundreds of bullets shoot above their head, across the walls. Then more thumps and thuds of guns continue to drop on the ground. When everything was awfully quiet, the three of them staggered up, until Ciara could see a dark figure standing in the middle of the mist. Is that…Liam?
As the mist continue to disappear, Ciara recognized the dark haired figure standing. Liam. Her eyes widened. What was lying on the ground were a mass of unconscious Rein Guards, sprawled on the floor. He did this all by himself? Ciara thought.
“Impossible,” Macie whispered, “I can’t believe you defeated all those Rein Guards all by yourself."
“Well, I told you. You need to let the handsome thief handle this, you know,” Liam said mischievously.
“Come on, there's no time to waste,” Chase gently tugged Ciara forward, “We need to get out of here as soon as we can.”
“Right on, little brother!” Liam agreed.
They took the left tunnel, which was exactly what Ciara imagined to be—a tunnel filled with low creaking water on the ground. They were on the right place.
“Just as planned,” Liam said, taking Ciara’s hand, “If we go straight toward that direction, we’ll be able to find ourselves in Virgo’s office.”
"Virgo's office?” Chase asked.
“Because that’s the only exit to the White House,” Liam sighed.
Relying on Liam’s plan, the four of them ran straight ahead, following the source of the flowing water. Ciara touched her injured stomach, and lowered her head. Virgo is there…Ciara thought. And she’s ready for me.
z
It took them a while to finally reach the dead end of the tunnel, which Ciara suspected, was a high metallic wall with three holes on the bottom. Where are we going next? Ciara thought. There’s nothing in here, but filthy water.
The four of them stopped, and the silence grew stronger. Out of the corner of her eye, Ciara saw something that looked like three long dots at the bottom. And as she moved closer to examine, she noticed the long dots were jail bars.
“What now, Liam?” Macie panted from the run.
Shh.” Liam said, “You hear that?”
“What?” Chase asked.
“I hear two voices,” Ciara continued to lean closer to the black holes. She slowly bent down, careful not to get wet from the water, and took a peek inside the hole.
Her vision was hazy. She couldn’t see anything, except for the white light filling her eyes. Then after a few seconds, she began to hear those voices again. Feminine voices. One that belonged to Virgo, because of her pitch tone, and the other was…
Her heart sank.
Leverie Plop.
“I’m surprised you’re not happy to see your sister, Leverie.” Virgo’s voice echoed across the metallic walls.
“I don’t have a sister who is blind, Empress,” Leverie’s deep voice followed, “My sister died from the destruction of Metric three years ago. She is nothing, but a weak, disabled person.”
“Well, surely you must be happy." Virgo said, “After all, you’ve finally found your sister since your escape in Part."
“Empress,” Leverie muttered, “My love ones were killed a long time ago. Now I have nothing.” Leverie continued, “If you didn’t offer me that choice, I wouldn’t be here in the first place. I had already left the past, and the reason why I’m here was to get stronger. And you gave me that power, Empress. That’s why I will be always on your side forever.”
Liam stiffened beside her.
Virgo said I can always come to her, if I wanted to join her side…Liam’s words echoed her thoughts. But…I’m still thinking about it.
Could it be? Ciara thought. That Leverie has taken Virgo’s offer?
“How sincere, Leverie.” Virgo said, “But tell me. You still loved that blind girl, don’t you?”
Ciara could finally see Virgo and Leverie even from a far sight. She quickly recognized Leverie because of the top-to-bottom white outfit, and the other woman—Virgo, had a darker shade of clothes and hair. She’s so beautiful…Ciara thought. The shape of Virgo’s body was slender, showing the curves of her dark gown that ended up on the floor.
“Love is nothing to me. All I can feel is hatred and anger. Nothing more, nothing less,” Leverie said dully.
“Funny,” Virgo chuckled, and Ciara saw her outline moving slowly toward Leverie, her hand reaching out to skim her sister's face. Leverie didn't move as if Virgo's gestures meant nothing to her. “When you shot your sister, you quickly called the medics to treat her stomach. What is that, Leverie? Is that what you called, ‘hatred?’
Ciara shuddered. So Leverie does really care about me after all.
Leverie stayed silent. Virgo chuckled again, her hand gone from Leverie’s face. “Let’s talk about Liam Crude first. What was the first thing that came to your mind when you first met him at the Arch Bridge?"
Ciara could hear Liam’s hands squeezing tightly on the ground. He’s starting to get angry.
“Weak,” Leverie spat, “Nothing like the one I imagined.”
“Oh, maybe he’s just not ready at that time,” Virgo said, “I have been always fascinated with his power.” Virgo hissed, “Internal bleeding.” Virgo continued, “I used to offer him a choice. But he declined my request, all because of his disabled little brother.” Virgo continued.
“We have the same power,” Leverie said, ‘The power to kill," Leverie continued, "We are nothing, but humanoid experiments, since we have the same Specialist at Cager Territory."
Liam clenched his teeth.
“Liam…” Ciara whispered.
“That girl knows that Specialist,” Liam gritted his teeth, his fists trembling on his sides. What is he talking about? Ciara thought. Liam continued, “I need to find that person—” Liam clawed his hands on the ground. He’s going insane. Ciara thought. This isn’t Liam…He's gone crazy just by hearing the word Specialist. Liam chuckled lowly, “I need to kill him. To tear his neck right off it’s so—“
The ground started to tremble and the walls begun to shake tremendously.
Macie and Chase gave a yelp, while Ciara kept her hands on the bars. But when she did, her hands slipped right through it—as if the bars disappeared—and fell right into the hole. She tumbled on the ground, and writhed in pain because of the injury of her stomach. Behind her, she could hear her team mates screaming and yelling from the earthquake, until she heard a deafening crash that sounded like thunder.
Three thumps crashed beside her, and after a few seconds, the ground started to steady itself, turning everything back to normal. But unfortunately, there weren’t inside the tunnel anymore. Instead, Ciara was looking up at the only figure that made her cringed in fear.
Virgo.
